Forsters Finery began in 2019, when Laureen and Stephen Forster started their small Canadian business from their home in Granthams Landing, British Columbia.

What began with a love for beautiful, natural fabrics has grown into a passion for helping people discover the comfort and everyday luxury of 100% Mulberry Silk.

In 2021, we moved to Campbell River on Vancouver Island, where Forsters Finery continues to grow. You’ll find us throughout the year at seasonal markets across Vancouver Island, while our online store allows us to share our silk products with customers across Canada and the United States.

As a small, family-owned Canadian business, we believe luxury should feel wonderful, last beautifully, and still be affordable. From silk pillowcases and nightwear to hair care, travel essentials and accessories, our products are thoughtfully selected to bring a little more comfort, confidence and quiet luxury into everyday life.

Precious Silk

Since the 27th Century BC, silk from China has been the epitome of luxury… from the Imperial Dynasties to the great fashion houses of today. For over 1,000 yrs the use of silk had been regulated solely for use to the members of the Imperial family.

After the beginning of the second century BC, the Silk Road was established to trade silk to places as far as Constantinople (today’s Istanbul, Turkey). Today it is shared and used worldwide as luxurious garments for day and nighttime wear.

With its incomparably lustrous sheen, amazingly soft feel, and numerous health benefits this “strongest of all-natural fibers” stayed secret from the rest of the world until 300 AD when silk was first cultivated in Japan, then the Byzantine Empire, in 522 AD.
